For learners

Learn. Grow.
Move forward.

An apprenticeship gives you the opportunity to develop new skills while working in a real job. At MI, your programme is built around your role, your development and where you want to go next.

Your apprenticeship

What to
expect.

You will have structured learning, support from MI and opportunities to apply what you learn in the workplace. You will also have regular reviews to make sure you are progressing and getting the support you need.

01

Learn new knowledge

Take part in taught sessions, activities and guided learning linked to the apprenticeship standard and your role.

02

Apply it at work

Use your new knowledge and skills in real tasks, projects, customer situations, systems and workplace responsibilities.

03

Get regular support

Your tutor and employer will review progress with you, celebrate what is going well and help tackle anything that is slowing you down.

Your journey

From enrolment
to achievement.

Every apprenticeship is different, but your journey with MI will normally follow a clear set of stages.

01 / START

Initial assessment

We look at your experience, prior learning, current skills, job role and any support needs so your programme starts at the right point.

02 / PLAN

Your learning plan

You will understand what the apprenticeship covers, how learning will be delivered and what you and your employer need to do.

03 / LEARN

Develop new skills

Take part in learning and use your workplace to practise, demonstrate and strengthen new knowledge and skills.

04 / REVIEW

Check your progress

Regular reviews help you stay on track and give you a chance to discuss progress, workload, wellbeing and support.

05 / READY

Prepare for assessment

When you have developed the required competence, MI will help you prepare for the assessment arrangements for your apprenticeship.

06 / PROGRESS

Plan what comes next

Your apprenticeship should help you move forward — whether that means more responsibility, promotion, a new role or higher-level study.

Learning with MI

How your learning may be delivered

MI uses a blended approach where appropriate. This can include live virtual teaching, one-to-one coaching, workplace activity, independent learning, online resources and progress reviews. The exact mix depends on your apprenticeship and your role.

Time to learn

Your apprenticeship includes learning activity that forms part of your normal working time. We will explain what counts, what evidence may be required and how your employer should support you to take part.

English and maths

Your English and maths requirements are checked at the start and are applied in line with the current apprenticeship funding rules. Where additional development is required, MI will explain what support is available and what you need to complete.

Additional learning support

If you have a disability, learning difficulty, health need or another barrier that may affect your learning, tell us as early as possible. We can discuss reasonable adjustments and additional support so that you can participate fairly in your programme.

Safeguarding and wellbeing

You should feel safe and supported throughout your apprenticeship. If you are worried about your own safety or wellbeing, or about another person, you can contact MI's safeguarding team. You can speak to Bernie, the Designated Safeguarding Lead, on 07976 512623, or Caroline, the Deputy Safeguarding Lead, on 079766 523559.
